With all the hoopla of National Signing Day behind us, I had a chance to catch up with, Burlington Township’s and 2017 Scarlet Knight Signee, Everett Wormley for an exclusive interview for all of our “On the Banks” fans to get to know Ev a little better. To see my scouting report on Wormley, simply click here.
What was it about Rutgers University, outside of Football related reasons, that helped you make your decision to attend school there?
Rutgers business school is elite, and since I want to major in marketing it was a good match. Plus New York City being so close presented great internship opportunities.
What was it about Coach Ash that helped you choose Rutgers?
The fact that Coach Ash cares more about you as a person and man, than as a football player was big for me. When we talked on the phone it was always about life rather than football. His resume also speaks for itself. Coming from Ohio State and being a defensive coordinator in that championship run they had was huge. He knows what it takes to win at the B1G level.
Will you be able to attend any spring practices while still attending Burlington Township High?
I will be in attendance for a handful of spring practices. I want to get around the team and practice atmosphere as much as possible before I arrive on campus to make the transition as smooth as possible.
What other sports have you played as a youngster growing up?
I've played basketball, soccer, baseball, and ran track as a youngster before getting to high school and narrowing it down to football and track.
What do you enjoy most when you are not involved in school or football related activities?
I love hanging out with my friends and playing video games, specifically Madden. I'll run anyone in Madden.
What football player do you admire most?
Dez Bryant is my favorite player and the one I admire most. The passion and physicality he plays with is unmatched.
Who do you idolize outside of football?
My dad. He pushes me to my limits but has molded me into the man I am today. He just wants me to be a better man and person than he is.
What would have been your plans for after high school if you were not going to play college football?
I would still definitely be attending college. Might not have been Rutgers but I would have still furthered my education somewhere.
Is there a nickname that you go by with friends and teammates?
Most people just call me Ev for short.
What professional or college sports do you watch other than football?
I'm an avid fan of NBA and college basketball.
What would you like to say to all the Rutgers Fans who can't wait for the 2017 season to start?
Get ready to witness a crazy turn around starting next year. We are going to put on a show !
— Thank You and Best of Luck Everett and we will see you . ... . On the Banks!
I’m sure that I speak for all Rutgers Fans when I say that I am looking forward to the 2017 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Football Season.
