Rutgers Football NSD: DL Jaohne Duggan Signs!

The defensive lineman from Bethlehem, PA makes it official.

Liberty High School defensive lineman Jaohne Duggan made his commitment to Rutgers University official today, signing his National Letter of Intent.

Duggan announced his commitment on June 28th, choosing Rutgers University while being recruited by other schools such as Penn State, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

Jaohne Duggan is a 3-star recruit who has been scouted as a defensive tackle and a defensive end. According to Scout, Duggan is the 2nd ranked defensive tackle in the state of Pennsylvania.

Although he played defensive end in high school, Duggan is all but ready to transition to defensive tackle once he gets to Rutgers. The combination of his size (6’2”, 270lbs) and explosiveness allows one to believe that Duggan can continue to grow into 3-technique defensive tackle throughout his time on the Banks. Perhaps Duggan could even play over the ball as a nose tackle, but he would really need to put on some size in order to be effective.

Once Duggan determines what position he’ll be playing and conditions his body to match it, watch out. Another versatile, high motor athlete who can potentially wreck havoc on the defensive line for the Scarlet Knights.

Freshman Impact Index: Duggan is another candidate who could really use a season to fully commit to playing and perfecting his craft at a single position. In a class the features a few other defensive lineman who can play multiple positions, Duggan might be the odd man out in 2017.
