The official visit of TiJaun Mason to the State of New Jersey in mid January made his decision an easy one when Defensive Line Coach Shane Burnham convinced him he could come in and play right away as reported by Scout. The national recruiting service has the lean and lanky Mason their #1 weak side defensive end in all of Volunteerland.

Mason canceled his only other planned official visit, to Toledo, after verbally committing to Rutgers following his official visit.
On the Banks very own Jim Hoffman was one of the first to make the report. He projects to be a 5 technique, weak side defensive end who can use his wingspan to prevent blockers from getting into his pads. The long arms that he possesses can best be utilized to bat down opposing QB’s passes.
Coach Parker has a tremendous frame in which to work with in the Scarlet Knight strength and conditioning program. If Mason can add some muscle to go along with his length he can become a force to be reckoned with.
