When Christian Izien finally earned his offer from Rutgers University, he did not waste any time in committing. This morning, Izien did the same in wasting no time by signing his National Letter of Intent to play football for Rutgers University.
Izien joined Erasmus Hall teammate Kessawn Abraham as a Rutgers pledge this past October after a series of impressive performances at various camps this summer and an excellent start to his senior campaign.
Izien, a 3-star athlete ranked as the 18th-best commit in the state of New York according to 247Sports, is about as versatile as it gets for an incoming secondary prospect. The five-foot-10, 180-pound athlete was named a First-Team All-City safety and kick returner/punt returner.
As for Izien’s chances of providing instant impact, he will be at a disadvantage because he will not be enrolling early. However, Izien’s versatility and dynamic skill-set (and not to mention his 4.4 speed) puts him in a great position to contribute early on as a special teamer and potential return man.
Christian Izien gives Rutgers a burst of much-needed speed, as well as another weapon for the coaching staff to play with in the team’s blossoming defense of the future.
Welcome to the Banks, Christian!
