At one point the highest rated recruit Rutgers wrangled in during the class of 2018 cycle, Zihir Lacewell’s recruitment remained relatively quiet for the past six months. The Staten Island (N.Y.) Tottenville product committed to the Scarlet Knights in June shortly after attending an on-campus camp.

He reportedly had offers from Boston College, Maryland and Indiana, but his only official visit was to Piscataway in December, according to 247Sports. Lacewell was also in attendance for Rutgers 56-0 thumping at the hands of Ohio State in October, when he was on an unofficial visit.
Lacewell arrives at Rutgers as a wide receiver, where he provides much needed height and athleticism. However, experts such as 247’s Brian Dohn see Lacewell’s best position as linebacker.
Wherever he ends up playing, Lacewell adds a strong base of athleticism to the Rutgers roster.
