Rutgers Football Recruiting: Commits Week in Review

A look at how future Knights fared in this week’s games

NCAA Football: Morgan State at Rutgers Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

As we watch the Scarlet Knights week in and week out, we will continue to check in on the Knights of the future to track their success on the high school gridiron. The highlighted Class of 2018 commits will be listed by ranking according to 247Sports. Here are how some of them performed this past weekend.

Zihir Lacewell - 3* Wide Receiver, Tottenville (NY)

Unfortunately, Lacewell was not much of a factor in his team’s 41-20 loss to Erasmus Hall. However, he took to twitter to own up to his poor play, showing signs of a true leader.

Isaih Pacheco - 3* Running Back, Vineland (NJ)

Pacheco continues to lead the high-flying Vineland offense this season. In a 38-8 win over Atlantic City, Pacheco connected on a 27-yard passing touchdown and ran in a 38-yard touchdown himself.

Paul Woods - 3* Wide Receiver, Canisius (NY)

Woods had a quiet night in his team’s run-dominated 38-9 win this past weekend, picking up just 19 yards on three receptions. Woods also contributed a 39-yard kick return and a 14-yard punt return.

Jalen Chatman - 3* Dual-Threat Quarterback, Narbonne (CA)

Chatman had another monster game this past weekend, leading his team to a 57-7 win over San Pedro. Although he is labeled as a dual-threat quarterback, Chatman continues to showcase his passing ability, connecting on 21 of 28 passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns.

Stevie Scott - 3* Running Back, Christian Brothers Academy (NY)

While Scott continues to sit on the shelf with a foot injury, he was able to visit his future home this past weekend.

In light of recent recruiting struggles, it is a great sign to see that Scott had a successful visit.

Zamir Mickens - 3* Safety, St. Peters Prep (NJ)

Mickens helped lead his team to a huge victory over St. Joseph’s Regional this past weekend, picking up four total tackles while holding the opposing offense to just 17 points.

Travon King - 3* Wide Receiver, Woodrow Wilson (NJ)

King had another do-it-all game this past weekend in a 58-0 win over Triton. On offense, he caught four passes for 33 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown. On defense, he was lethal from his defensive end position, picking up five tackles and a sack.

Deion Jennings - 3* Cornerback, Timber Creek (NJ)

Like his future secondary-mate Mickens, Jennings picked up four tackles as the leader of a secondary that held it’s opposition to a long day on offense.

Be sure to check back in next week to see which future Scarlet Knights are dominating throughout their senior campaign!
