Game Preview
Report: Gio Rescigno to start today
This game is literally the fork in the road for the future of this season, and quite possible, the entire Ash era. Win and this program takes a step forward, no matter how small, in the right direction and gives some hope next week on Homecoming against Purdue. Lose and I almost can’t bear the thought of the reactions there will be. Losing to Illinois in consecutive years would be more damaging than anything Ohio State has done to Rutgers over the past few seasons. It would warrant serious concern of whether Chris Ash really can turn things around. Let’s hope we don’t have to ponder that thought this afternoon. Rutgers needs to exploit the Illinois defense by running it down their throats. Will we see Gio Rescigno or Johnathan Lewis emerge as the clear starting quarterback moving forward? Will Janarion Grant’s return be a triumphant one? There are many questions to be answered in this game, let’s hope we see the result we all desperately want.
