Rutgers Football Top Ten Plays of 2016

Noah K. Murray-USA TODAY Sports

What is your favorite play from the Rutgers Football 2016 season? It was hard for me to decide, but I took a shot at it anyways. Enjoy!

#10: Freshman WR Jawuan Harris Hauls in 1st Career Touchdown Against Howard: The game was already put away at this point with the Scarlet Knights leading Howard 35-14 at the start of the 4th quarter. This was the second reception for Harris, but his first career touchdown and the Scarlet Knights went on to win 52-14.

#9: Senior Running Back Justin Goodwin’s Spin-Move on his way to a 28-yard touchdown against Maryland: With Rutgers trailing Maryland 21-7 late in the third quarter, Rutgers RB Justin Goodwin spins past the defender on his way to a 28-yard touchdown against Maryland. The touchdown brought the Scarlet Knights within one score but were ultimately defeated 31-13.

#8: With the Scarlet Knights trailing New Mexico 21-14 late in the second quarter Robert Martin Explodes up the middle for an 80-yard touchdown to tie the game at 21.

#7: Harris again? Yep. With the Scarlet Knights trailing New Mexico 21-0 Harris hauls in a 75-yard bomb from former Scarlet Knight QB Chris Laviano for a touchdown:

#6: After a scoreless first half against Illinois, QB Giovanni Rescigno got the nod in the second half and ended the scoreless drought with a Tebow like jump pass to TE Nick Arcidiacono.

#5: Down 21-10 Rutgers Senior WR Andre Patton Scores on a 37-yard dime from Giovanni Rescigno against Minnesota.

#4: True freshman Damon Hayes with his first career pick 6 against Minnesota.

#3: Late in the second quarter Rutgers' Janarion Grant returns the punt for a 69-yard touchdown to give Rutgers the lead over New Mexico.

#2: Grant again? Yep (Spoiler Alert, it won’t be the last). Janarion Grant throws a 7-yard touchdown pass to Andre Patton against New Mexico in the second quarter.

#1: Janarion Grant vs Howard (84-yard touchdown kickoff return, and touchdown rushes of 58 and 21 yards respectively)

Did I mention this was difficult? Here are my honorable mentions:

  • Rutgers' Giovanni Rescigno breaks tackles and runs 42 yards for a fourth quarter touchdown against Howard.
  • SO Deonte Roberts & Jr Saquan Hampton interceptions against Indiana
