Commit Alert: Rutgers Football Adds Tight End Travis Vokolek

It has been a busy weekend on the banks and Rutgers Football has landed it’s second commitment of the evening when Travis Vokolek announced on twitter his pledge to Rutgers. Drew Harris, a dual threat quarterback out of Camden, NJ was the first to commit today.

Vokolek, a consensus three star recruit per 247Sports from Springfield, MO holds nine offers, including Big-Ten conference mate Minnesota. He left his official visit last week with strong interest in Rutgers.

His official visit was followed with an in home visit from from Head Coach Chris Ash and Vince Okruch only two days later.

Vokolek exhibits good hands, crisp route running, and the ability to turn up field after the catch. His athleticism jumps out watching his tape, and seems to have excellent awareness tracking down the football. He also has good size and speed at 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds. The Scarlet Knights are lacking depth at the tight-end position which explains the reason Myles Nash has moved from defensive end to tight-end. In addition to Nash, Jerome Washington and Griffin-Stewart will be competing for the tight-end spot. The addition of Vokolek brings much needed depth to this group following the graduations of Matt Flanagan and Nick Arcadiacono, as well as the transfers of Anthony Folkerts and Charles Scarff.

Welcome to the banks Travis! Check out his senior highlights.
