The Rutgers Women’s Soccer team will be heading into Big Ten play beginning this weekend. The Scarlet Knights are coming off of back to back wins last week. The team is currently ranked #22 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The team will begin a series of games against Big Ten opponents beginning tonight when they take on Maryland at Yurcak field. Rutgers is 5-1-1 on the season so far, they are looking to move up in the rankings with a win over Maryland.

Maryland is 2-5-1 on the season so far, and most recently coming off of a loss against George Mason. The Scarlet Knights look to use the momentum from their big wins last week to ride past Maryland tonight. Rutgers beat Cornell 2-0 on September 9th and dominated Drexel 5-0 on September 11th.

Scoring in both of these wins was Freshman Carina Hendley, she will be a huge factor in the match up with Maryland if she continues to play as she did last weekend. The two games against Cornell and Drexel were the 3rd and 4th shutout of the year for the women’s soccer team. Senior goalkeeper Alana Jiminez has been looking great in goal and has played some of her best in these two shutouts. Another player that will make a big impact in Friday’s game is senior forward Madison Tiernan, who leads the team with 4 goals on the season.

The game against Maryland begins at 7 pm and can be streamed live on BTN plus.
