The depth chart for week 3 against New Mexico was released and two official changes took place. One is Jawuan Harris moving into a starting role at wide receiver. Robert Martin also moved to the top spot at running back after a solid season debut against Howard. There was no change on the depth chart at quarterback and in addition, Ash made this remark regarding the situation.
"Not at this moment" does Ash envision playing 2 QBs in the game. #Rutgers

OFFENSE
QB: Chris Laviano / Gio Rescigno OR Zach Allen
RB: Robert Martin / Josh Hicks OR Justin Goodwin
TE: Nick Arcidiacono / Matt Flanagan
WR: Jawuan Harris / John Tsimis
WR: Janarion Grant / John Tsimis
WR: Andre Patton / Carlton Agudosi
LT: Tariq Cole / Zack Heeman
LG: Dorian Miller / Zach Venesky
C: Derrick Nelson / Jonah Jackson
RG: Chris Muller / Marcus Applefield
RT: J.J. Denman / Kamaal Seymour
Notes: As we have seen through two games so far, the receivers have had issues gaining separation in coverage. Jawuan Harris is the fastest receiver other than Janarion Grant and he led the team in receiving yards against Howard. He also caught an open field, 29 yard touchdown in the 4th quarter. With Rutgers still needing someone to step up as a reliable #2 receiver, his opportunity to become that player has arrived.
Mehringer: We kind of know what Zach can and cannot do. Playing Gio and Tylin was to see what they can do. #Rutgers

DEFENSE
DE: Quanzell Lambert / Darnell Davis
NT: Sebastian Joseph / Kevin Wilkins
DT: Darius Hamilton / Jon Bateky
DE: Julian Pinnix-Odrick /Myles Nash
WLB: Trevor Morris / Eric Margolis
MLB: Deonte Roberts / Kevin Marquez
SLB: Greg Jones / Najee Clayton
CB: Isaiah Wharton / Ross Douglas
FS: Saquan Hampton / Kiy Hester
SS: Anthony Cioffi / Lawrence Stevens
CB: Blessuan Austin / Damon Hayes
Notes: Head Coach Chris Ash indicated Saquan Hampton will miss time with an injury, but is expected back this season. Kiy Hester will start in his place, although no change was actually made to the depth chart. Hester is more than capable of stepping into the starter’s role for now....there was no other notable news on defense, other than Ross Douglas, who is also dealing with an injury that is expected to keep him out awhile. He also remains on the depth chart in a backup role.
FS Saquan Hampton "will be out for a few weeks" with an injury. DNP vs. Howard. Will be back this season. #Rutgers

Sounds like Ronnie James still isn't game ready. Larry Stevens and K.J. Gray are the backup safeties. #Rutgers

SPECIAL TEAMS
K: David Bonagura / Jared Smolar
P: Michael Cintron / Tim Gleeson
LS: Alan Lucy / Matthew Sportelli
Notes: No changes on special teams.
Rutgers opened as the favorite against New Mexico, per the oddsmakers in Las Vegas.
Ash: New Mexico is more of a passing threat than Army, Navy. Not all triple options are the same, like not all spread are the same. #Rutgers

Ash says New Mexico's triple-option offense is 'quite a bit different' from Army/Navy but presents more challenges b/c of pistol. #rutgers

Ash said he'd give the team a 'C' so far. That's what 1-1 is. #Rutgers
