The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has released their preseason poll, and Rutgers will be debuting at #10 to start this 2016 season. Last year, the Scarlet Knights ended the season ranked #3 in the country after earning a trip to the NCAA Women's College Cup. The team will be looking to improve on their record breaking season in 2015, with the help of a few newcomers and returning seasoned veterans. Rutgers is only the second Big Ten school in the poll, other than Penn State who sits at #2.
The Top Ten schools are as follows:
1-Florida State University
2-Penn State University
4-University of Virginia
6-West Virginia University
7-University of Florida
8-Texas A&M University

Rutgers will be returning five of their starters from last year which include goalkeeper Casey Murphy, who is currently playing with the U.S under 20 national team, Colby Ciarrocca, Madison Tiernan, Erin Smith, and Kenie Wright. The Scarlet Knights will add 13 new players to the mix this fall. After finishing the 2015 season with a record of 19-4-4, with four wins over top 25 opponents, Rutgers Women's Soccer team looks to continue to improve.
