UPDATED: Rutgers Wrestling In Best of Brand Marketing Competition

Support the program and its marketing efforts by voting for them this afternoon.

The Rutgers wrestling program has been selected as a finalist for a marketing competition set up by Elite Level Sports Marketing (ELSM) and the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA). Not only is Rutgers one of 16 finalists for the Best of Brand "Paramount Promotion" category, they were selected as the #1 seed in a bracket challenge format. Criteria for the category and how the seeding's were determined is explained in this article and detailed below:

Finalists & Match-Ups A committee selected the "Better Than Good Graphic" finalists based on each video’s quality, music/sound selection, graphics, and overall impact in regards to the award category.

"It is critical that our coaches are constantly working to build interest surrounding their programs," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. "The programs nominated for this award have done a great job showcasing their value and talent through these highlight reels."

The criteria for determining the "Paramount Promotion" award winner will feature two key elements: a panel of judges assessing annual performance (70%) and an online voting competition (30%). The online voting component will include 15% allocated to the actual vote totals and 15% to the creativity of campaign during the Battle Round voting.

The bracket challenge competition starts TODAY. Voting takes place for the round of 16 this Tuesday afternoon between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. #1 seeded Rutgers takes on #16 Rider. If Rutgers advances after today, they will move to the Quarterfinals tomorrow. Each round progresses daily, with the same time period for voting each day. The Championship round will be on Friday, July 8th.

Other Big Ten schools to make the selection of 16 finalists include Maryland, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

The Rutgers athletic department does a phenomenal job overall in their online marketing of every program. It is great to see the Rutgers wrestling program being recognized for their marketing efforts. They have done a tremendous job the past couple of seasons promoting their program and building interest, in addition to their stellar performances on the mat.

The wrestling program was also nominated for the "Highlight Reel" category and was the #2 seed.  Unfortunately, they did not advance out of the first round. Let's rally the OTB readers and put forth a better voting effort for our favorite college wrestling program!

And it may be July, but it's only four months until the most epic Rutgers sports doubleheader takes place. Let's make a statement with a big turnout on what should be a glorious fall afternoon! This is also highlights the efforts of the program in marketing the program and this historic meet.
