Rutger's Gabrielle Farquharson Competed in the NCAA Outdoor Championships

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Thursday night the NCAA Outdoor Championship Semifinals took place for the women athletes. Rutger's own Gabrielle Farquharson was one of the athletes competing for a spot in the Finals. Farquharson competed in the 100m Semifinal, the Long Jump Semifinal, as well as the 200m Semifinal. The NCAA Outdoor Championships are taking place at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon until Saturday.

Farquharson was named Mid Atlantic Track Athlete of the Year this past Monday by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Semi finals were shown on ESPN and ESPN 3 last night. Farquharson placed 13th overall in the 100m semi's, with a time of 11.41. She finished 4th in her heat, unable to make it to the Finals on Saturday night. This puts her as Second Team All-American in 100m.

During the 200m Farquharson failed to make it to the Finals, finishing in 10th place with a time of 23.36. This put her as Second Team All-American in the 200m.

In the Long Jump, Gabrielle Farquharson recorded a jump of 20' 7 3/4" in the Semifinals after her three jumps, which placed her in 6th place and qualified her for the finals. After three jumps in the Final's Farquharson ended up in 7th place.  That places her as First Team All-American.

Farquharson is also currently going for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team. She will be competing in the U.S. Trials in the Long Jump from July 1-10, hoping to secure a ticket to Rio. The trials will be taking place at the same field as the NCAA Outdoor Championships, at Hayward Field.

You can watch the men compete Friday night, Live on ESPN and Espn 3 starting at 3:00 pm.
