Rutgers' success on the recruiting trail continued on Thursday when Tottenville wide receiver Tim Barrow announced his commitment to the Scarlet Knights.
Barrow is the first out-of-state recruit to join Rutgers' 2017 recruiting class. Recruiting site Scout lists the 6-foot-1, 170-pounder as a three-star prospect, as well as the top 2017 wide receiver in the Empire State.
This has to be viewed as a big win for Chris Ash, as he's made his first 2017 splash outside of New Jersey in the form of a promising young playmaker.
Barrow becomes the ninth commit of the recruiting class, which had grown exponentially in recent weeks. After Naijee Jones and Bryce Watts were early additions, the Scarlet Knights have received six commitments since April 15. The ball started rolling when highly-regarded receiver Bo Melton committed, and he was followed wide receiver Everett Wormley, quarterback Johnathan Lewis, running back Jonathan Taylor, and the top-ranked recruit in New Jersey, offensive lineman Micah Clark and Jamaal Beaty.
There's a good chance Barrow will have an opportunity to earn playing time right away on the banks, as the Scarlet Knights will be looking to fill the shoes of Andre Patton and Janarion Grant next season.
Welcome to the banks, Tim!
