Rutgers Football Announces Stripe Out For Michigan Game

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

It was announced previously that Rutgers football would host Michigan under the lights in primetime for this upcoming season.  There was speculation it would be the annual blackout game.  It will be something different instead.

It should be quite an endeavor in getting 52,000+ fans to follow the plan for the stripe out. If executed correctly, it will make for a great visual, both in person and on television. Here is the plan as explained in the press release:

Fans seated in odd numbered sections are asked to wear black and fans seated in even sections will wear scarlet. Audi Club patrons will also follow the odd/even pattern, while Rutgers students are asked to wear black to the game. A limited number of commemorative #StripeTheBirthplace t-shirts will be available for purchase at RutgersShop.com.

Penn State hosted a stripe out last season at home against Rutgers and their fans did a pretty good job pulling it off. Now it's time for Rutgers fans to step up and make our own stripe out a success.  Regardless, it should be a great atmosphere with Michigan coming to the Birthplace. Adding the stripe out element only adds to the excitement this game will bring.
