Commit Alert! QB Johnathan Lewis

@Kinglew__ - Twitter

Chris Ash has gained another HUGE New Jersey recruit in St. Peter's Prep dual-threat QB John Lewis!

Lewis is a true fit in Drew Mehringer's offense, as he currently runs the power-spread offense for the Marauders. Lewis stands at 6-3 and 205 pounds, but looks even bigger in person. He has a huge arm and plays in a style very similar to Cam Newton. He is a natural runner but will need to spend his senior year refining his throwing mechanics, as he struggled at times with his accuracy last year. Thankfully, he is coached by the same staff that developed current Notre Dame QB and former top NJ player Brandon Wimbush.

Lewis is a top-15 player in New Jersey according to 247 Sports and is the top dual-threat QB in the state. He is the 7th commit in the 2017 class for Chris Ash and continues the trend of New Jersey players staying home to play for Rutgers. All 7 commits in this class are from New Jersey. It is also important to note that Lewis was the top target at QB for Rutgers this cycle.

Welcome to The Banks, Johnathan!
