NSD: OT Mike Lonsdorf Signs!

The big man officially joins Rutgers.

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Immaculata OT Mike Lonsdorf has officially joined the Scarlet Knights, signing with Rutgers on Wednesday.

Lonsdorf, a three-star recruit, originally signed with UConn last December, but decommitted on January 25. Lonsdorf took an official visit to Rutgers the following weekend, and announced his commitment to the program afterwards. He also held offers from Purdue, Fordham, Bucknell, and others.

The Somerville native definitely has the size to be a Big Ten offensive lineman, measuring at a towering 6-7, 270. His height makes him a strong candidate to one day emerge as a starting offensive tackle for Rutgers.

Freshman Impact Index: 3 - Rutgers tends to limit its freshman offensive linemen to backup duties if they don't redshirt them. Lonsdorf will likely be no exception. He has potential and great talent, and with a strong summer camp could find some reserve snaps, but in all likelihood he'll be more of a long-term prospect, making a bigger impact in Year Two and beyond.
