From the Cheap Seats: 4 Thoughts on Seton Hall

Rutgers basketball is gritty again

NCAA Basketball: Rutgers at Seton Hall Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

This was a battle: Rutgers came out ready to play and gave Seton Hall everything they had for the first 3 quarters of the game. The Pirates were on their heels and took a long time to figure out the Rutgers defense. However, Rutgers wore down late and a battle tested team was able to pull away.

Ibrahima Diallo: Plastered to the bench for all of the season, Diallo played a ton in this game and mostly gave Seton Hall big men fits. He was invaluable and played smart and within himself. However, foul trouble proved to be his downfall. Angel Delgado was too much for all of Rutgers’ big men, even a surprise players.

Do not give up on this team: If this game is at the RAC with Rutgers fans going crazy, this outcome is completely different. There are going to be a lot of chances for Rutgers to take out some Big Ten teams, but you have to fill the RAC. And be loud. This team is going to surprise people. But they need your, and my, support.

This Game Was All Coaching: It wasn’t about talent, it was coaching. Pikiell and his staff put players in the best spots to succeed. With more talent, Pikiell will get this turned around. We just have to give him time. But this is, excuse me, night and day from the last 3 years. Maybe night and day from the last 10.
