Trailing by two scores and being shut out mid way thru the second quarter, Houston Texan Head Coach Bill O’Brien called on former Rutgers QB Tom Savage to relieve their 72 Million Dollar starting quarterback Brock Osweiler to not only save the day but perhaps save the season for the AFC South Division leaders. Osweiler was 6 - 11 for 48 yards and 2 interceptions before being yanked in favor of Savage.
The one time Scarlet Knight Savage, completed 23 of 36 passes for 260 yards to lead the Texans to a come from behind 21 -20 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the win Houston remains in first place in the AFC South and controls their own destiny for the playoffs with two games remaining.
Houston is now 8 - 6 and tied with the Tennessee Titans for first place, but the Texans hold the tie breaker due to the 5 - 0 division record. The Texans are home with the Cincinnati Bengals next week on Christmas Eve and finish the season at the Tennessee Titans on New Years Day. Coach O’Brien has yet to name a starting quarterback for next week.
