Rutgers Football offers two Class of 2018 athletes

It was the first Division 1 offer for both of these players.

Although National Signing Day is just about a month and a half away, offers to 2018 recruits are beginning to pour in.

After having giving out a number of offers so far throughout the month of December, Rutgers handed out two more today.

Lucas Nunez, a junior wide receiver from Cardinal Hayes High School in New York, and Clayton Scott, a junior running back/linebacker from Millville High School, received their first D1 offers from Rutgers University today.

Nunez is just 5’8”, 170 pounds, but an explosive wide receiver who is exceptionally dangerous when out in space. On the season, Nunez racked up 1,582 yards and 21 touchdowns on 58 receptions. It would not surprised me one bit to see more D1 offers coming his way, but kudos to Coach Ash and company for being the first to offer. Nunez is also heading to the 2017 National Combine at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The other athlete to receive an offer, Clayton Scott, was an absolute stat-stuffer for Millville this year. The running back/linebacker had over 2,100 all purpose yards and 20 touchdowns on offense, while on defense he was an impact pass rusher, picking up 61 total tackles and 16(!) sacks. Scott was named to the 2016 All-South Jersey First Team as an all-purpose player.
