Rutgers Football (2-9; 0-8) will travel to Maryland (5-6; 2-6) to face the Terrapins this Saturday in their final game of the season. According to VegasInsider.com, the Scarlet Knights have opened as 13 point underdogs against the Terrapins. The Knights have faced the Terrapins 6 times, with the series tied at 3-3. Since joining the Big Ten, the series is tied 1-1, with both teams mounting large come from behind victories on the road:
Nov 28, 2015: L 41-46
Nov 29, 2014: W 41-38
Sept 26, 2009: W 34-13
Sept 29, 2007: L 24-34
Oct 1, 1921: L 0-3
Oct 2, 1920: W 6-0
Both Maryland and Rutgers are undergoing rebuilds with new staffs, so it will be interesting to see how this matchup plays out. Maryland Head Coach DJ Durkin served as Michigan’s defensive coordinator last year and has assembled a veteran staff around him. Similarly, Rutgers Head Coach Chris Ash served as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator last year and has assembled a mix of veteran coaches as well as young up and comers.
Both Rutgers and Maryland are coming off of losses versus ranked teams in Penn State (9-2; 7-1) and Nebraska (9-2; 6-2) respectively. The Scarlet Knights face their last chance of obtaining a conference win, and will need to certainly improve their offensive production in order to do so.
Here is a quick overview of the upcoming matchup:
