And so it begins my friends, the 2016-2017 season opener for the Rutgers men’s basketball team is here. If you are new around these parts, the answer is yes, we do a game thread for every game. The answer is no, it was not enjoyable to do last season, as each blowout got worse and every positive notion I’ve ever had was sucked out of my soul. However, in the words of the great Van Morrison, “It’s a brand new day!”.

Game Preview

Last year’s season opener saw Rutgers tied at the half with Division III Rutgers-Newark. They ultimately won by 13 points, but it was an ugly season debut. Let’s hope for this team to come out with intensity and focus towards the task at hand. There might be some rust and a feeling out period at the start, but Rutgers should take over well before halftime begins.

It’s truly exciting to have a new era of Rutgers basketball begin tonight under new head coach Steve Pikiell. Rutgers will play three games In the next seven days, a busy start to the new season.
