This is certainly the most daunting road trip of the season, as Rutgers walks into the Horseshoe to take on #2 Ohio State at high noon for the Buckeye’s Homecoming game. It’s appropriate that it is, as coaches on both sides have ties to the other school playing in this game. Head coach Chris Ash brings seven former staffers back with him to Columbus, while Greg Schiano faces Rutgers for the first time. Rutgers runs pretty much the same the schemes on both sides of the ball as Ohio State. The familiarity should make for an interesting chess match in this game.
The talent of Ohio State is plain scary and this game is a gigantic test for Rutgers and the coaching staff. Hopefully, the defense can take another step forward and continue their improved play this season. Rutgers has lost by a combined score of 105-24 in the first two meetings between the schools, so let’s hope today is a bit closer. Here is plenty of game day links ahead of the noon kickoff and let’s all pray this game is less ugly than the past two years.
