Commit Alert! OL Sam Howson

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

The good news keeps on coming for Rutgers fans, as Pope John XXIII (NJ) C Sam Howson has committed to the Scarlet Knights!

Howson committed to Rutgers following his official visit this weekend. He is the second offensive lineman to pledge to the Scarlet Knights today(!!!) and the fourth overall. He is the 16th commit in the 2016 class.

Howson is definitely a late bloomer, as he exploded onto the scene his senior year. He gained 60(!!!) pounds from his junior to senior year and is now an intimidating 6-5 280. He definetely still has room to grow, and can do that this year as there is no immediate need at center for the Scarlet Knights.

Howson was hosted by fellow OL Zack Heeman, and was reportedly bonding well with today's other commit, Mike Lonsdorf, and the man he could be replacing, Derrick Nelson.

Howson is another good get for Chris Ash and AJ Blazek, as they look to fill up the 2016 class with a slew of big men. Rutgers currently has the 65th ranked class in the nation, according the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, good for 12th in the B1G, one spot behind Indiana.

Once again, stay tuned as the staff will be making a huge push towards National Signing Day, which is only 3 days away.
