Deshawn Freeman, Shaq Doorson, and Ibrahima Diallo have all been declared out for the season. Jonathan Laurent is set to return tonight after missing four games due to a concussion. Adding Laurent back into the mix puts Rutgers at eight active scholarship players for tonight's game.
Rutgers has a lot to play for tonight. Pride for one, as they return to the court just three days after the worst home loss in program history. They have something to prove to the fanbase, who they have given little hope to recently with their performance. And they are playing for the future, as they need to focus on improving as a team, however small steps that may result, in hopes of being better down the road. With 6'8" wing Chuba Ohams visiting, it's also a chance to leave a favorable impression on a local recruit (from the Bronx, plays for Coastal Academy) who plays a position of need for Rutgers.
2016 F @_COhams will visit Rutgers for their game tonight, he tells @SNYtv— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) January 21, 2016
Iowa has a legitimate chance to win the Big Ten this season, so don't expect miracles. However, Rutgers needs to respond tonight after their last two home performances were historically two of the worst ever. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst!
Oh yes, it's a blackout game!
