Week 3 Game Day Links Rutgers v. Penn State

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a very long week.  An all too familiar stream of arrests and suspensions occurred, this time with our best player and head coach.  To say our football team is going through adversity would be a massive understatement.  And yet here we are, it's game day and we play our rival Penn State.  This is where we get you caught up on everything Rutgers football and prepared for tonight's kickoff in Happy Valley.

As you know by now, Leonte Carroo is indefinitely suspended after being arrested on simple assault charges related to domestic violence.  It stems from an incident outside the stadium after last week's loss to WSU.  Here is a breakdown of the wide receiver group and who is likely to step up in Carroo's absence.

With the seven players being suspended, with all being dismissed with the exception of Carroo, it certainly felt like the we were in the darkest hour for the football team.  Of course, we know now it only got worse as the week continued.

Head coach Kyle Flood was suspended for three games due to his improper contact with a professor.  The breakdown of Flood's actions from the investigation uncovered this was much more than a harmless email.  President Barchi wrote a lengthy email to the entire Rutgers community explaining the timeline and results.  Our staff at OTB held a roundtable discussion regarding the disheartening news.

After everything that happened this week, there were not many changes to the depth chart, other than at wide receiver.  Unfortunately star defensive lineman Darius Hamilton is still out on this week's injury report.  A deeper dive into where the team stands headed to Penn State is here.

If you happen to be in Happy Valley this weekend, we have a in depth look at where to go on your visit, aside from Beaver Stadium.

Here is an insider's view from the Penn State side, detailing their recent struggles on the field and what to look for in tonight's game.  From our game preview, we see it being an ugly but hard fought contest.  Overall, our staff is split on the outcome of tonight's game here with our predictions post.  Our biggest weapon on defense must come alive tonight!

Regardless of your feelings towards Penn State, we say it's time to be respectful as a fan base.

There is a full slate of action across the Big Ten, with a breakdown, predictions and the lines for each game here.

ESPN offers their own breakdown of the action as well as predictions.  They also speak with Penn State head coach James Franklin as he prepares for the game tonight.
