Rutgers just released its post-camp/pre-Norfolk injury report, and it's a doozy. Per Ryan Dunleavy and the APP:
Questionable: CB Dre Boggs, Upper Body; CB Ronnie James, Lower Body; DE Kemoko Turay ,Upper Body
Out: DB Talib Abdur-Ra’oof, Lower Body; CB Nadir Barnwell, Upper Body; TE George Behr, Lower Body; P Tim Gleeson, Lower Body; DT Darius Hamilton, Lower Body; WR Jawuan Harris, Lower Body; SS Kiy Hester, Lower Body; WR Dontae Owens, Lower Body; RB Desmon Peoples, Upper Body; LB Nick Rafferty, Upper Body; LB Austin Rosa, Lower Body; RB Charles Snorweah Upper Body; LB TJ Taylor, Lower Body; WR John Tsimis, Lower Body; DB Brian Verbitski, Lower Body; OL Jacquis Webb, Lower Body.
Notable names on the list have to be Darius Hamilton and Kiy Hester as definite "outs" - Hamilton has been nursing a "lower body injury" for a while, but his inability to go Saturday is troubling, and perhaps indicative of a lingering or more serious problem that will either plague him all year or keep him on the shelf.
It is unclear what Kiy Hester's injury is, but as the season plays out, Rutgers will need all the depth it can find in the secondary, and Hester will need every snap of experience he can get.
Perhaps this is an overly conservative injury report in light of the opponent. Even so, it's never a good sign when star players and team leaders are out before the team has played one meaningful snap.
Also notable: Boggs and Turay listed as "questionable," although odds are good those two will get on the field Saturday.
