Rutgers Basketball: Big Ten/ACC Challenge Pairings Announced

Rutgers 2015-2016 Basketball schedule is shaping up

Yesterday the 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchups were announced.  Rutgers will host Wake Forest on Monday, November 30th.

Wake Forest went 13-19 last season in Head Coach Danny Manning's first season.  Last year in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, Wake Forest lost to Minnesota 84-69.  Rutgers won at Clemson 69-64.  Overall the Big Ten secured the Commissioner's Cup winning eight of the fourteen matchups.  Adam Zagoria details the full schedule here.

Rutgers out of conference schedule is shaping up to be an interesting slate.  Jerry Carino has a good breakdown here.  The 2nd Annual MGM Grand Main Event in Las Vegas on November 23-25 will feature Creighton, Clemson, UMass and Rutgers.  Carino states Rutgers is scheduled to play Creighton but its not confirmed.

In addition, Rutgers will play in the inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games in honor of Dave Gavitt, founder of the Big East conference.  There are 8 games scheduled and Rutgers will play at St. John's on November 19th, their first meeting in 3 seasons.

Rutgers will play their 3rd Big East opponent of the season at the RAC on Saturday, December 5th.  The annual Garden State Hardwood Classic against blood rival Seton Hall, which Rutgers lost last season 81-54.

The rest of Rutgers out of conference schedule includes Howard and Central Arkansas at home as part of the MGM Grand Main Event, a road game at George Washington and home games against Monmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Central Connecticut.  That leaves two open slots to fill to complete the out of conference schedule for the 2015-2016 season.

As for the Big Ten conference schedule, it was announced in February that Rutgers will have home and away games with Michigan State, Ohio State, Illinois, Minnesota and Nebraska.  They will also play Iowa, Indiana, Penn State and Purdue at home.  Games against Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern and Wisconsin will be on the road.
