It isn't often that the No. 4 team in the country comes to your place.

Are they contenders or pretenders?

Rutgers Softball has been playing well, winning three consecutive Big Ten series.  That includes last weekend's three game sweep of Sparty.  But this weekend is a bigger test than they've faced all year as Michigan comes to Piscataway for a three game set.  The two squads are tied for second place in the conference.

Scouting the Knights and Wolverines

Rutgers (20-9, 7-2 Big Ten) extended its win streak to seven with a midweek victory over in-state rival Princeton, defeating the Tigers 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon. Last weekend, the Scarlet Knights swept Michigan State in its inaugural Big Ten home series.

No. 4 Michigan (34-6, 7-2 Big Ten) has also opened Big Ten play with three consecutive series victories, defeating Ohio State, Iowa and Minnesota. The Wolverines two losses in conference action came at the hands of Iowa, 7-4, and then-No. 14 Minnesota, 9-1.
