This wasn't the strong finish that the Scarlet Knights envisioned entering the postseason. Just over one week ago, it looked as if Rutgers could potentially challenge Iowa for the number two seed in the Big Ten tourney. After dropping back to back games against the Michigan State Spartans and Northwestern Wildcats, the Knights ended up losing out on a top four seed and most importantly, a double-bye.
Rutgers finished the regular season with a record of 21-8 overall and 12-6 in the B1G. They tied the Wildcats in conference, but Northwestern owns the tiebreaker in head-to-head matchups. In this year's tournament, it's Maryland and everybody else. The Terrapins absolutely steamrolled everyone in the league and are a heavy favorite to take the crown in their first year as league members. Rutgers gets a good draw as the fifth seed with either Penn State or Indiana, and gets the lowest top four seed if they make it to the quarterfinals.
