It was 35 degrees. A gray, chilly day in Queens, NY. That's how I want to spend my Saturdays in February. But it was a great place for Rutgers to start of its 2015 Men's Lacrosse season as the Knights took a 10-8 victory over the Red Storm.
Junior goalie Kris Alleyne made 11 saves on the afternoon and Sophomore Attack Christan Trasolini led all scorers with four goals and an assist. Jules Heningburg and Jeff George each chipped in two goals apiece. Scott Bieda and Ryan Hollingsworth rounded out the scoring with one goal each.
The Knights got on the board first just 27 seconds into the game as George scored. The Knights went up 3-0 in the first before St. John's came back to tie. Rutgers had a 4-3 lead at the half before St. John's went up with four consecutive third goals. Rutgers responded with goals from Heningburg, George and Bieda to tie in the third. Hollingsworth's first goal of the season at the 1:53 mark of the third put the Knights up for good.
Rutgers is off until next Saturday when it travels to Richmond for a noon contest.
