Women's basketball: Can Rutgers beat Sparty on the road?

Will Sparty spoil the party for the Knights?

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

There are only three games left in the regular season for Rutgers, and the Scarlet Knights are holding on to third place in the Big Ten standings. Minnesota sits just a half game behind RU, while Iowa has a slim one game lead for second place. Coach Stringer needs these wins to hold on to a top seed in the B1G tournament, and she gets a tough test in East Lansing Sunday afternoon.

How to watch, stream, and listen

#19 Rutgers Scarlet Knights (20-6, 11-4) @ Michigan State Spartans (12-14, 4-11)

Sunday, February 22 - 2:00 PM

Radio: 88.7 WRSU Rutgers Radio

The Spartans are 9-6 playing at the Breslin Center, so this isn't an easy out for the Knights. Michigan State is led by Aerial Powers, who is second in the Big Ten in scoring with 22.4 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game. She is arguably the best player in the conference and can single-handedly take over a game. As a team, Sparty's strength is rebounding - something Rutgers also does well. Giving up a lot of second chance opportunities could keep MSU in the game, although their field goal percentage shows that they haven't capitalized on many extra possessions.

Rutgers is riding high at the moment after back-to-back blowouts of Illinois and Purdue. Can the Knights maintain the strong momentum as they finish the inaugural Big Ten campaign?
