Cool Helmets...YES!
Okay, it's "just" a helmet. But it looks really cool. I like it! A lot. The team wore it with its all black uniforms at St. John's. We need to use the Knight head logo more. Thoughts?
Rutgers Lacrosse History...recognizing a star RU Lax player
Former Rutgers men's lacrosse player Rick Mercurio was inducted into the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame on Feb. 7.
Mercurio graduated from Rutgers in 1975, appearing on three NCAA Tournament teams with the Scarlet Knights. As a senior, Mercurio earned the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Scholar Athlete Award.
After his time at Rutgers, Mercurio enjoyed a decorated coaching career, serving as the head coach at Suffolk Community College and Sachem High School in Long Island, N.Y. Mercurio coached 15 High School All-Americans during his time at Sachem and over 200 All-League/Division and All-County recipients. Former players who competed under Mercurio include Rutgers head coach Brian Brecht and Marquette men's lacrosse head coach Joe Amplo.
The Big Ten in play
Including Rutgers, the Big Ten men's lacrosse teams posted a 4-1 record on Saturday's opening day of action, including three squads scoring at least 15 goals.
