FIGHT OR FLIGHT: THE NEW RUTGERS FOOTBALL MANTRA

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

WHO'S READY TO RUN THROUGH A BRICK WALL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I AM!

CHRIS IS!

WE ALL ARE!!

Honestly, if Chris Ash doesn't have you fired up about Rutgers football, you should probably just go be a fan of UConn or something.

It seems as if my ears will no longer bleed due to the sound of "1-0". Instead, my fist will go through drywall to the sound of "fight or flight," the new official mantra of Rutgers football.

More importantly, however, it marks the beginning of a new era, the #AshEra.

It seems likely that the majority of the assistant coaches will be gone and nearly all ties to the old Rutgers football team will be gone. This is no longer a coach working with Greg Schiano guys. This is Chris Ash, running Chris Ash schemes, with Chris Ash guys, and a Chris Ash coaching staff.

Again, unfortunately, that means well-liked coaches like EJ Barthel and Ben McDaniels will probably be gone. However, that is the business of college football.

Chris Ash is Pat Hobbs guy, and the only Pat Hobbs guy so far.

This is a new era in Rutgers athletics that extends beyond a football coach. This is a new AD who will be vocal and supportive. This is a president who finally realizes what it takes to be competitive in the B1G. There are no skeletons in the closet, no scapegoats, and no settling for mediocrity.

This is a new day in Rutgers athletics, and a day that leads us closer to success than the previous.

Now back to fight or flight and the football team.

From the internet:

This fundamental physiologic response forms the foundation of modern day stress medicine. The "fight or flight response" is our body's primitive, automatic, inborn response that prepares the body to "fight" or "flee" from perceived attack, harm or threat to our survival.

In a sense, you either face your problems or run from them. That is a great message for a group of players that will often line up against teams bigger, faster, and stronger than them.

With this new and meaningful mantra, expect this team to be a lot more competitive against the B1G elite, as they will never back down from a challenge. Expect a faster, more physical, and more hyped up team than you have ever witnessed on The Banks.

Get excited, Rutgers fans. The Ash Era is upon us.
