MEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY HONORS
Sophomore forward Jason Wright has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Big Ten Player of the Week, in addition to earning a spot on TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Wright scored four goals, including a hat trick against Yale and a golden goal at Michigan, as the Rutgers men's soccer team went 2-0 last week.
Last Saturday against Michigan, the leader atop the Big Ten standings, ranked at No. 25 in the College Soccer News Poll, Wright notched the golden goal. He found the back of the Wolverine net in the 93rd minute after the two teams played to a 0-0 stalemate at the end of regulation. It was his third game-winner of the season.
On the season, Wright leads the Big Ten with 20 points (9G, 2A) and is tied with teammate JP Correa as the leader in game-winners with three. Nationally, Wright ranks fifth in goals (9), seventh in goals per game (0.80) and eighth in total points (20) among all Division I players.
AND CROSS COUNTRY JOINS IN, TOO....MEN AND WOMEN
Senior Paige Senatore, the two-time Metropolitan Champion, was named the Big Ten Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, it was announced on Wednesday by the league office. Senatore and the Rutgers women's cross country team brought home the Metropolitan Cross Country championship title for the second consecutive year last Friday. The Scarlet Knights won the 2015 team championship with three top 10 placements led by Senatore's first place finish.
Sophomore Trent Brinkofski was named Big Ten Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced Wednesday by the conference. Brinkofski was the top finisher (7th place) for Rutgers last Friday at the Metropolitan Championships, where the Scarlet Knights finished third, their highest finish at the event in six years. For RU, it marks the first time a cross country athlete has received the honor from the Big Ten.
WRESTLING TAKING THE STAGE
It's October. That means the winter sports are practicing and that means wrestling is underway. Last Saturday, RU All American Anthony Ashnault opened the "season" in the first quarter of the Michigan State game.

IT'S WINTER (SPORTS).....TIME FOR HOCKEY
You were wondering why there was a hockey photo at the top. I know how you folks think. The Rutgers (club) hockey team is 4-2 on the season, 3-1 in the ESCHL. The team is on a 3-game winning streak (all vs. ranked teams) and has already equaled last year's win total. The team is ranked No. 15 in D1 club hockey.
