Rutgers Football Commit Alert! Jawuan Harris

The momentum for Rutgers football keeps rolling, as Florida WR Jawuan Harris just committed to the Knights, the second commitment in as many days.

Student Sports

Kyle Flood is wrapping up the 2015 recruiting class on a high note.  First, Marques Ford committed Thursday, and instantly became the highest-ranked player in the class.  Then, Rutgers hosted many prospects on campus, with great results. Following the visit, New York DL commit Kamaal Seymour announced he is happy with Rutgers, and is shutting down his recruiting, thereby giving Coach Hype the Heisman pose in a very public manner, after ttfp tried repeatedly to get Seymour on campus for a visit. Then, Najee Clayton committed on Monday afternoon, bolstering a nice crew of defensive backs.

And today, one more domino fell, as Florida wide receiver Jawuan Harris, who until two days ago was committed to FAU, pledged to the Scarlet Knights.

After his official visit last weekend, several signs started pointing Rutgers' way. In addition to his decommitment from FAU shortly after his visit to Rutgers, he listed a top three including Michigan State and Princeton.  But reports almost immediately surfaced that Harris was wavering on even taking his scheduled Sparty visit this weekend. Tonight, he confirmed that he will be a Scarlet Knight.

The senior receiver from Fort Lauderdale, Florida power St. Thomas Aquinas stands 5'10" and 185 lbs.  He figures to be a slot receiver in college, and displays very nice agility and shiftiness in the open field. His senior year hudl film also shows special teams prowess, as he returned numerous punts and kickoffs for TDs. Finally, he flashed some Mo Sanu type versatility, by throwing a nice TD pass on a trick play (2:50).

Harris is a very nice late addition to the 2015 class, and appears to be pretty significantly under-recruited. Coach Flood is closing this class out nicely.  Welcome to the Banks Jawuan!
