USA Today Coaches' Poll released: Rutgers football gets votes

The nation takes notice after RU's barnburner late last Thursday night.

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

For the second straight year, Rutgers opened to a national audience on the the west coast, this time against a Power 5 opponent, and this time ended with a victory. The win brought some respect to the Scarlet Knights, as RU is now in the receiving votes category in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. It's important to note that Rutgers' Kyle Flood is not a participant this year for voting, which means that there is no chance for self-selection. Also of note is that Wazzu head coach Mike Leach does have a vote, making him a likely candidate for voting in RU. Here is the full poll:

In B1G news, Michigan State is now ahead of Ohio State, leading all conference teams. This is most likely due to Braxton Miller's injury rather than anything performance related from last Saturday. Wisconsin remains in the top 20 after a close loss to LSU, and Nebraska is holding strong as a mid-to-high teen squad. The AP poll will be released around 2 PM today.
