Rutgers Football Recruiting Commit Alert! Ronnie James

Glassboro Safety Ronnie James pulled the trigger for the Scarlet Knights after an unofficial visit to campus today.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

On the Banks told you this morning that Glassboro Safety Ronnie James was visiting campus today, and that his commitment would be a great score for coach Kyle Flood and the Scarlet Knights.  During his visit, James made Scarlet Knights fans and especially the coaching staff happy, as he became the 18th member of the Knights' 2015 class, and the second safety (with Newark's Alkadair Ports).

Coach Galiano's excited tweet notwithstanding, Ronnie deserves his own welcome post without mentions of any other famous Scarlet Knights with whom he may or may not have grown up in the same house. James is a 6'0" 175 lb. safety (who may end up as a corner), and he boasts a blazing sub-4.5s 40 yard dash.

As a junior, he had 79 total tackles (60 solo), 2 INTs, 6 pass breakups, 5 tackles for loss, one fumble recovery and one blocked extra point (hell yeah special teams nastiness - we like that here). James has a great knack for staying stride-for-stride with receivers, and he lays big hits on anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path in the middle of the field (I like the tackles at 5:00 and 6:05 in his junior highlights, to name a few in particular). Congrats and welcome to the Banks Ronnie!
