Rutgers hosts three notable recruits as the first training camp practice kicks off

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Actual, real live American football is upon us, Rutgers fans. Today is the first day of training camp practices (helmets only today), and three South Jersey recruits and possible future Scarlet Knights will be on campus today.

Ronnie James

James is a 6'0" 175 lb. safety from Glassboro, NJ. A rising senior, James is very familiar with the Rutgers program and campus, as big brother Paul is the team's featured running back this year. He earned his offer from the Scarlet Knights in the spring, and participated in a Rutgers skills camp in June. Ronnie has offers from Pitt, Cuse and UMass in addition to his Scarlet Knights offer. Safety is a position of need for the Knights, so it would be a big deal for Coach Flood and the Knights to impress James enough to secure his commitment.

Update 2:

Boom! Commit Alert!

Kelvin Harmon

Harmon stands 6'4" 180 lbs., and is one of the best receivers in New Jersey's 2016 class, already rated as a 3*.  The Palmyra, NJ standout earned his Rutgers offer in the spring.  He has been on campus many times, but this will be his first trip since earning an offer. Early in his recruiting process, Temple appears to be Rutgers top competition for his services, as he plans to visit the Philadelphia campus as well this weekend. He has also camped at Pitt and Maryland this summer, but has not received offers from those programs yet. Harmon is very high on Rutgers, and recently posted that he is excited to attend the Rutgers v. ttfp clash on September 13.

Update:

Chris Pascall

Pascall is a 6'2" 180 lb. DB/WR from Cherry Hill West.  His recruitment has been quiet so far, but he just received his first offer from Stony Brook, and his recruitment could take off.  Sometimes the first offer triggers others to break a logjam. Pascall is big and displays good athleticism as a receiver and DB.
