Rutgers Football Recruiting: Scarlet-White Game Visitors

The spring game is a huge showcase for all big-time football programs, and that is certainly true in Piscataway Here are some notes on the commits and prospects who will be on campus for the festivities.

2014 Signees

There will be a number of 2014 signees on campus for the spring game, in many cases marking the first time they have been on campus since signing their NLIs to attend Rutgers.  Attendees are expected to include DE Donald Bedell, S Saquan Hampton, LS Alan Lucy, DT Kevin Wilkins, DE Jimmy Hogan, RB Rob Martin, LB Eric Margolis, DE Sam Blue, LB Sidney Gopre, OT Tariq Cole and Michigan QB Giovanni Rescigno.

2015 Commits

There will also be a number of rising seniors, including several who have already committed to Rutgers.  Rutgers fans learned the hard way last year that recruiting does not stop until the ink is dry on a letter of intent, so even though these guys have made oral commitments to the Scarlet Knights, it is important to continue to build bonds with them, and make them feel like part of RFamily.  Commits in attendance will include OG Zach Venesky, QB Mike Dare and TE Nakia Griffin.

Dontae Strickland, South Brunswick RB -- Strickland has made multiple visits to Rutgers in the past few weeks, and a commit could be coming soon from the big powerful running back.

DJ Moore, Imhotep (Philadelphia) WR -- Moore was the Rivals Camp Series WR MVP, and received his Rutgers offer during a visit on Monday, April 21.

Daiquan Kelly, Union City DB -- Recently named Syracuse as his favorite, but Rutgers is certainly in the mix, and was listed among his top 5.

Daivon Ellison, Don Bosco DB -- Rutgers was first to offer, and Ellison has been to campus multiple times.  He is also heading to the Banks Friday for a more personal visit with teammate and Miami commit Kevin Feder.

Drew Wiley, Hopewell Valley (Pennington, NJ) LB -- Attended Junior Day, and has had lots of contact with Bob Fraser and the staff, but no offer yet.

Qaadir Sheppard, Iona Prep (New Rochelle, NY) DE/LB.  This visit was his second in three weeks, as he visited Rutgers after attending the Rivals camp at Piscataway High School.

Myles Hartsfield, Sayreville DB -- Hartsfield is a slight  Penn State lean, but he could be swayed by a stellar trip to the banks.  A Strickland or Daivon Ellison commit could also impact his decision.

Neal Nelson, Timber Creek LB -- Nelson is a tremendous player, who recently announced his transfer to South Jersey power Timber Creek.  Offers have been slow to come in for him because of some academic issues.

Kelvin Harmon, 2016 Palmyra WR -- Harmon should be one of the top WR in next year's class, and has made multiple visits to Rutgers recently, including after the Rivals camp.

Akeer Franklin, Monroe, NJ RB -- No Rutgers offer yet, but he may not be far off.

Tyler Davis, Mepham (N.Y.) QB -- Davis has made several trips to Rutgers in the past few months, attending one of Rutgers junior days.

Other visitors are expected to include Juwann Dolbrice, Linden RB; Isaiah McLean, Shabazz (Newark) DB; and Miami Commit OL Kevin Feder of Don Bosco.

Check back later, because this list may be updated as more names surface.
