Elite Athletes Come for Camp, Stay for Rutgers

Scores of the best football players in the Northeast descended on Piscataway High School for the Rivals camp Saturday, and many made the short trip to the Hale Center to see what Rutgers has to offer.

The Camp Series touched down in central New Jersey Saturday, and many of the best athletes in the Northeast participated, at least the ones not attending spring games in Happy Valley or Columbus.

Kyle Flood and his staff are not prone to waste an opportunity like this, and many of the top players at the camp traveled the 3.7 miles from Piscataway High to High Point Solutions Stadium, to visit the Scarlet Knights.

New Offers Out to 2016 Stars

At least three class of 2016 players walked out of the Hale Center with offers to play for Rutgers: Cedar Creek Athlete Ahmir Mitchell; Camden WR Brad Hawkins and Camden DE Jamal Holloway.

Positive Vibes from Notable Prospects

Sammy Morrision is a 5'11" 165 lb. CB from Gonzaga (Washington D.C.).  He got his offer from Rutgers on March 11.

Kelvin Harmon is a 6'3" 180 lb. WR from Palmyra, NJ, and is one of the top NJ receiver targets in the 2016 class.

Chris Pascall is a 6'1" 190 lb. WR from Cherry Hill, NJ.

Jahier Franklin is a 5'9" 154 lb. CB from Camden Catholic.

Austrian Robinson is 6'6" 255 lb. DE from Trinity-Pawling High School in New York.  He got his Rutgers offer on a visit about a month ago.  Robinson's teammate and fellow Rutgers offeree Hergy Mayala also visited campus, as did other Rutgers offerees, including 6'4" 233 lb. New Rochelle DE/LB Qaadir Sheppard; 2016 Bronx, NY RB Tim Poindexter and 6'4" 230 lb. 3* Coatesville, PA TE Amir Ealey.

Commitment Watch

A contingent from Weequahic High School (Newark) will be on campus this week, including 2015 offeree Alkadair Ports. Ports may be very close to committing if this visit goes well.  He is close with 2014 signee and 2013 Star Ledger Defense Player of the Year Sidney Gopre. Ports is a 6'2" 170 lb. ATH who will likely play DB at the next level.
