New, 8 comments

"It took 35 years, but I finally found my way back home."

Maddie Meyer

Former sports writer - at a paper to be named later - Tom Luicci is now the Senior Director of Digital Media at Rutgers.  A New Jersey native and 1977 graduate of Rutgers, Luicci has worked as a sportswriter for the past 35 years, including the last 13 as a Rutgers Football beat reporter.

From the Official Press Release:

In this newly created position, which officially begins May 5, Luicci will develop a communications and messaging program via ScarletKnights.com that supports the needs of the students, fans, donors and university community. He will build content for the website, interface with department constituents, and advise athletics and university leadership regarding media and messaging strategies.

"I’d like to thank Dr. Robert Barchi and Julie Hermann for the opportunity to return to Rutgers, which has been my second home for the past four decades," said Luicci. "As a Rutgers graduate, I’m excited about being part of the most significant era in school history with the move to the Big Ten, and I’m looking forward to interacting with Rutgers fans and giving them another outlet for Scarlet Knights sports news on ScarletKnights.com."

Rutgers fans have been very enthusiastic about the news.

Congrats, Tom, and best of luck at Rutgers.  We certainly can use the help.
