This is the first National Signing Day that has been somewhat tempered for Rutgers in quite awhile. 2013 had two ESPN 300 recruits in Chris Laviano and Nadir Barnwell, and 2012 was the top-ranked landmark class that Kyle Flood closed for former head coach Greg Schiano. 2011 was exciting as well with the turmoil at Pitt and Savon Huggins joining the fold.
Nevertheless, you can never count anything out on National Signing Day, so even though it may seem this class is all set to sign, keep an eye out for a couple of surprises. Sam Martin still needs to decide, and Kyle Flood might even get a head start on 2015.
So sit back, enjoy your snow day if you live in the Northeast, and bask in the last big event in college football until Spring's awakening. Also, keep it tuned here for any major RFootball recruiting nuggets.
UPDATE 11:52 PM 2/4: Knights get WR/LB Eric Margolis, Clarkstown South (West Nyack, NY)
It's not even NSD yet and we already have our first update. WR Eric Margolis accepted an offer from Rutgers late Tuesday night. Joe Rossi is credited as the recruiter for Margolis, which may explain why the wideout is being recruited for the linebacker position at RU. With his size, Flood might be recruiting him to take over the SAM linebacker role now that Jamal Merrell is graduating. You can check out his highlights here.
