Big Ten Football Players of the Week: Week 10

Well, for what it's worth Melvin Gordon wasn't on the list. But the Badgers' Corey Clement was. And two of the honorees are from New Jersey.

Offensive Player of the Week

Corey Clement, Wisconsin, So., RB, Glassboro

  • Averaged 9.4 yards per carry by rushing for 131 yards on 14 attempts, including two touchdowns, in a win at Rutgers
  • Recorded touchdown runs of 43 and 36 yards
  • Ranks eighth among Big Ten players with 101.8 rushing yards per game in conference contests

Co-Defensive Players of the Week

Louis Trinca-Pasat, Iowa, Sr., DT

  • Registered five tackles and three sacks to guide the Hawkeyes a victory over Northwestern
  • His three sacks were a career high and matched the most by a Big Ten player this season
  • Led a defensive unit that held the Wildcats to 180 yards, including 55 yards in the first half

Jake Ryan, Michigan, Sr., LB

  • Recorded 11 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in Michigan's win over Indiana
  • The two forced fumbles were the most by a Big Ten player this season
  • Moved into a tie for second place on Michigan's career forced fumbles list with seven

Special Teams Player of the Week

Sam Ficken, Penn State, Sr., K

  • Made all four of his field goal attempts, with conversions from 47, 25, 46 and 48 yards
  • Became the first Penn State kicker since 1982 to make three field goals of at least 45 yards in a game
  • Matched a career high with four field goals, equaling his performance against Central Florida on Aug. 30, 2014

Freshman of the Week


Akrum Wadley, Iowa, RB, Newark

  • Recorded 15 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown in a win over Northwestern
  • Averaged 7.1 yards per carry, with runs of 23 and 26 yards and a five-yard touchdown
  • Became the first Hawkeye to rush for more than 100 yards in his first game with a carry since 2009
