Freshman diver Addison Walkowaik has been named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first conference honor for Walkowaik, as well as for the swimming and diving program in its inaugural season in the Big Ten.

"Addy is doing a great job this year developing her lists to be able to compete at the Big Ten Championship," said diving coach Fred Woodruff. "I am really excited that she is figuring things out so quickly. We have changed dives and diving positions on her and she is handling it well. It is very exciting to have her receive this honor."

In last weekend's quad meet against Villanova, Georgetown and Seton Hall, the rookie dominated the boards to help guide the Scarlet Knights to victory in the two-day event. Walkowaik claimed a first-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 281.55. The mark was more than 30 points higher than the second-place finisher. Moving into day two of competition, Walkowaik secured another first-place finish in the 3-meter dive. Her score of 307.65 also paced the field by more than 30 points.

The Scarlet Knight shares the accolade with freshman swimmer Zhesi Li of Ohio State.
