Big Ten Wrestling at Rutgers starts with wrestle-offs

Rutgers Wrestling announced its schedule for its first season in the Big Ten. It includes a home match at the RAC against 4-time defending national champion Penn State.

It starts with wrestle-offs, the intra-squad match up to determine position for the starting lineup.  And you can watch.  The October 25 wrestle-offs are open to he public and there is no charge for admission.  It's your first opportunity to see the first edition of Big Ten wrestling On the Banks.

Head Coach Scott Goodale's Scarlet Knights open their regular season at home hosting the Rutgers Duals in early November.  They wrestle in the third edition - and the Knights' third trip there - of "Grapple at the Garden" in NYC.  And they open their first season in the Big Ten against perennial power Iowa.  And when you talk about the Big Ten in wrestling, get used to hearing that phrase, "Perennial Power".  It applies.

Four of the Knights nine conference matches are at home: Iowa, Minnesota, and Penn State are at the RAC.  Ohio State wraps up the B1G home schedule at the College Avenue Gym.  Minnesota was the national runner-up in 2014, while Iowa finished fourth and tOSU sixth.

The Knights are coming off an 11-5 2013-14 season, where they finished third in the EIWA Tournament.  At the national level, they return redshirt junior All-American Anthony Perrotti at 157 pounds.
