As they head into their first season in the new Big Ten Lacrosse competition, the Scarlet Knights announced their team captains for the season.
Head Coach Brian Brecht announced that junior attackman Scott Bieda, senior defenseman Nick Capparelli, senior midfielder Brian Goss, and senior midfielder Joseph Nardella would be serving as captains for the 2015 season.
Goss is now a three-time captain for the Scarlet, and Nardella will be serving in his second year as a team leader.
Brecht commented on the foursome. "All four have been true student-athletes on and off the field, helping Rutgers to its first ever Big East tournament appearance last season as well as having an overall 3.0 cumulative GPA. As we continue through our fall practices and workouts, we will lean on their leadership in preparing for our inaugural season in the Big Ten Conference."
The conference has five full members and one associate member, Johns Hopkins. With the addition of Rutgers and Maryland, the B1G was able to cobble together an NCAA-required six-team league. The existing Big Ten schools playing lacrosse are Michigan, Ohio State, and PSU.
