2014 College Football TV Schedule Week 9: Lane Kiffin returns to Rocky Top

Some decent matchups around college football this Saturday, but all eyes will be on Alabama-Tennessee to watch the troll fest of Lane Kiffin.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Above all else, schadenfreude is the greatest tradition in college football, and we have a good chance to partake in it no matter who wins when #4 Alabama travels to Knoxville to take on Tennessee at 7:30 PM. It'll be Lane Kiffin's first trip to Rocky Top since his hilarious exit en route to his next flame-out at USC. The head-scratcher hiring by Nick Saban made this game all the more interesting in the preseason, and we finally get to see how the Volunteer faithful will treat their former head coach.

Before that however, there are plenty of viewing options to sate your college football thirst. #FunBelt action started things off on Tuesday (?), and Thursday has some tasty matchups as #18 East Carolina hosts our favorite team from the Constitution State, the Connecticut Huskies (schadenfreude!). Four games will kick off on Friday, including #6 Oregon at California.

The Saturday slate begins with your Rutgers Scarlet Knights at #16 Nebraska in Lincoln, where Kyle Flood looks to turn the page after a brutal game on the road in Columbus. Also at noon is Texas at #11 Kansas State, where the wizard Bill Snyder is quietly crafting what looks like an 11-win regular season campaign.

At 3:30 PM, Brady Hoke and the Michigan Wolverines enter the gauntlet that is East Lansing to take on #8 Michigan State's "galaxy-class" defense. The SEC will showcase #1 Mississippi State at Kentucky, the Big 12 has #22 West Virginia fresh off the Baylor upset against a good Oklahoma State team, and #10 TCU hosts Texas Tech. If you're looking to watch this year's best Group of Five team, turn your television to Fox Sports 1, where you can watch Rakeem Cato lead the undefeated #23 Marshall Thundering Herd against an overmatched Florida Atlantic team.

In primetime, you can watch two hated rivals play heavily favored opponents. At 7 PM, Syracuse travels to #21 Clemson's Death Valley for the battle of loudest ACC stadiums. And at 8 PM on ABC, #13 Ohio State faces Penn State at Beaver Stadium. Happy watching #CHOPNation!
