Week 9: Rutgers travels to Huskerland

RU makes the trip to another iconic stadium in the Big Ten.

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

After a trip to Columbus, the Scarlet Knights get another long road trip halfway across the country in the far reaches of the B1G West. The Nebraska Cornhuskers don't look quite as good as the Buckeyes, but Rutgers will most certainly be underdogs when the line opens this week. After the Knights looked visibly fazed by an uproarious Ohio Stadium homecoming crowd, they get a second chance to prove they can hang with a top-25 team on the road in front of an ESPN2 audience.

After facing dual-threat J.T. Barrett, RU gets to face a more one-dimensional offense that is led by RB Ameer Abdullah, the nation's third leading rusher (through week eight, the top four rushers in the nation are in the B1G). The poor tackling that was on display against Ohio State better be fixed soon, as Abdullah will no doubt punish any defender who attempts to arm tackle him. Can the Knights put up a good fight on the road, or will they get schooled for the second straight week?

Based on what we saw from Rutgers in Columbus, that opening line looks fair. Like Ohio State, Nebraska protects their home field very well, and the Scarlet Knights must travel very far for an 11 AM local time kickoff. Are the Knights ready for another big test in a hostile environment?
